To achieve the purpose of this office space, an efficient environment will be designed with lighting, noise and thermal control, as well as coordinated collaboration workspaces. Basic components of the office space will consist mostly of large, open areas of systems furniture for individual work and conferencing spaces for group collaboration. In conjunction with an open-planned space, the office will house team rooms, client consultation rooms, conference rooms, breakout areas for user-defined workspaces, and a hospitality area.
Concept
The drops of dew found on leaves in the early hours of a morning sunrise are guiding inspirations for the design of the space. By refracting incoming light and reflecting the resulting image of its surroundings, each droplet reveals its own creative manifestation. The variations of size and arrangement of dewdrops upon a leaf inspire an open-planned, dynamic workspace. A single dewdrop is able to perform its production on any spot on a leaf’s surface and suggests the need to offer various work environments within the space to encourage comfortable working. As individual dew droplets unite into a larger drop, a bigger reflection is produced and emphasizes the benefits of encouraging collaboration-based workspaces. To ensure the formation and existence of a dewdrop, each must be exposed to an accommodating environment. Likewise, the space must meet the needs of employees. The natural and vibrant colors reflected from the morning sunrise are incorporated throughout the space. The clarity and transparency of a dewdrop has inspired the use of daylighting to illuminate and accentuate the space.

Bank of America, Commercial Design Project
The designer decided that one of the most important things to take into consideration was the use of the Bank of America logo within the space. We decided to go with the red aspect of the logo and the somewhat arching, trapezoidal shape of the logo. We chose to use red instead of blue, because we believe red represents the passion Bank of America has for serving its customers all over the nation. Red is also a color that is able to make an impact throughout decades of change. It is vibrant and powerful.
The color red is accompanied by the use of white, grey, and black within the space. We chose grey to accompany white as the neutral colors because grey represents strength. These colors are furthermore accompanied by an open space plan incorporating diagonal lines around the core of the space, which is the main lobby. The paralleling lines of the logo have inspired the ceiling in the lobby as well. We have also tried to incorporate as much natural light as possible with the use of glazing along the front, exterior wall and sky-lights in the lobby area.
The inspiration of the Bank of America logo was used to show the bank’s efforts to stay consistent with it’s values it create early on in its creation. We wanted to make it clear that Bank of America was open to new possibilities and ready to accommodate its customers with a comfortable, contemporary environment. We at Cochran Interiors, Inc. enjoyed working on this project and with the corporate members of Bank of America.

ONE. Day Spa, Design Specialty Project
To be well is to be at peace. To have peace, we must surround ourselves in a harmonious environment. The path to wellness may not be easy, but the concept is simple. One must discover the basic elements needed to survive and thrive while incorporating them into everyday life.
One Day Spa, located in Chicago, Illinois, is an environment constructed to make visitors feel as though they can connect to the elements of life and become One with the earth. The elements: earth, wind, fire, and water have been incorporated into the design of One Day Spa. Earth is referenced in the selection of rich materials, such as hardwood flooring. Wind is represented by the cool colors in finishes, as well as the purified air circulating throughout the space. Fire is represented by the warm ambiance of light and is shown in small displays throughout. Finally, water is found throughout the entire environment, either in hydrotherapy rooms or in water features throughout. The space within the spa is centered on the area with the most references and uses of water. This is to reflect that everything in existence owes itself to the presence or absence of water.
The goal of One Day Spa and its employees is to make each client feel as though they are the number one priority no matter what selection of therapy they will receive. It is then the responsibility of the environment’s design to impose a sense of simplicity and wellbeing onto each client. These goals and responsibilities have been set in place to make each visitor realize that their own wellbeing must become their number one priority.

Peak Tavern, Hospitality Design Project
Peak Tavern is a new addition to the city of Seattle, Washington. It’s three owners, who have been friends over fifteen years, have chosen the first floor of the newly relocated Paramount Hotel. The restaurant prides itself on offering its guest a one of a kind experience with the highest awarded steaks in the state of Washington and the most hospitable staff in Seattle. The owners, Lisa, Brittany, and Melody, share a passion for great food, great scenery, and a good excuse to take time and relax with great company.
Originally, Peak Tavern began as a small café in a town just north of Seattle. Once the café gained statewide recognition for the high-grade beef steaks, the owners were able to fulfill their dreams of owning a larger restaurant in a city they hold so dear to their hearts. Once the decision was made, the owners asked Cochran Designs to design a space that not only supports the goals of the owners, but also the city itself. Cochran Designs (CD) is delighted to be a part of this project and to work so closely with three extremely passionate friends and restaurant owners.
The presence of Mount Rainier standing guard over the city of Seattle, Washington is the guiding inspiration for the design of Peak Tavern. The restaurant is situated on the bottom floor of the Paramount Hotel, which has been relocated to a more elevated view of the city. The view of this beautiful mountain has inspired the shape of the floor plan and the colors and textures of the furnishings. The view of the city has inspired the mixture of textures and clean lines throughout the space. The refined environment incorporates a comfortable setting with nationally recognized five-star dining.

Williams' Residence, Residential Design Project
The William’s residence has been designed specifically for Jason Williams and Heidi Tate. The couple has lived together for over ten years and have recently chosen to move to Georgia. While in search of a new home, the couple fell in love with a Colonial plantation home located next to the Chattahoochee river. The historical precedence of the home, as well as the gorgeous views that surrounded it made for a great choice for a new home that would represent the couple. Heidi is an architect and has been inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright her entire career. Jason is a chiropractor and believes in the power of a restful and comfortable environment.
Both have a deep appreciation for art and have requested that each room within the new house will be designed around one of the many Warhol originals that the couple has collected throughout the years. The color selections throughout the house have been pulled from each of these inspirational pieces. Many of the colors are represented in a toned down version to help create a more relaxing environment for the couple. The furnishings are of clean lines and great character just like the house. Heidi has also requested that Wright’s signature style be incorporated throughout the house as well.
